Close your eyes and find your way into the dreamscape. Created only using geometric shapes and radial compositions, this animation takes you through a few of the infinite possibilities that dreams can present to you.
Process
A challenging assignment I was given was to make an abstract animation involving a word tied to music. This was a collaborative effort between me and a music student. I was given the music and I worked solely based on that and the word that accompanied it. That word was “Dreaming.”
As I thought about how to make this animation, I ultimately chose to go with a tunnel or wormhole aesthetic, like a portal into the subconscious when you fall asleep and start dreaming. There are many bizarre yet beautiful sequences that happen in a single night's dream, and I strived to capture that in my animation.
Even when we live through reality, our dreams influence our lives. We become conscious of what emerged from our subconscious from our dreams and take advantage of our unearthed knowledge and fears. The black void represents the bridge between one’s closed eyes and the subconscious, and the dream experience is everything in between. Of course, this is just a showcase of a few scenarios, and there are infinite possibilities that can happen in the dream world.
