TURTLE CAFE

Branding • Art Direction • Logo Design • Packaging

A concept packaging system for the Turtle Café, a cozy café with a bold yet relaxed personality. The turtle serves as a reminder that we all should take it slow sometimes in our daily lives. With French-style baked goods and some of the finest herbal tea (and energizing coffee for those who really need it), this has become a popular spot for exhausted students and workers.

Process

I typically think of a café as a place to relax. Since I started having more of an interest in mental health, I wanted to establish a brand of a café that promotes its customers to slowing down and having a break. Thus, “Turtle Café” was born.

I traveled all throughout the borough near university, looking for cafés and bakeries to take inspiration from. I have not gone to bakeries often, but some places looked really nice. In my trek around the borough, I ate at a café that had an outdoor garden where you could eat. The indoor area was lovely, too, with an old-fashioned atmosphere with its wood furniture and paintings hung on the wall.

I challenged myself to base the brand logo off a stock illustration of a turtle. If there was anything I learned from that challenge, it’s that pictures like that don’t make for flexible logo designs. I think the items turned out well with the subtle turtle shell textures.

I look forward to projects like this where I have incentive to travel to different places and feel inspired by them.
